Quantum tomography for solid-state qubits
– We propose a method for the tomographic reconstruction of qubit states for a general class of solid-state systems in which the Hamiltonians are represented by spin operators, e.g., with Heisenberg-, XXZ-, or XY -type exchange interactions. We analyze the implementation of the projective operator measurements, or spin measurements, on qubit states. All the qubit states for the spin Hamiltonian...
متن کاملQuantum efficiency of binary-outcome detectors of solid-state qubits
We introduce definitions of the quantum efficiency for binary-outcome qubit detectors with imperfect fidelity, focusing on the subclass of quantum nondemolition detectors. Quantum efficiency is analyzed for several models of detectors, including indirect projective measurement, linear detector in binary-outcome regime, detector of the superconducting phase qubit, and detector based on tunneling...
متن کاملNoisy quantum measurement of solid-state qubits
The quantum evolution of an individual solid-state qubit during the process of its continuous measurement can be described by the recently developed Bayesian formalism. In contrast to the conventional ensemble-averaged formalism, it takes into account the measurement record (in a way similar to the standard Bayesian analysis) and therefore is able to consider individual realizations of the meas...
متن کاملState tomography for two qubits using reduced densities
The optimal state determination (or tomography) is studied for a composite system of two qubits when measurements can be performed on one of the qubits and interactions of the two qubits can be implemented. The goal is to minimize the number of interactions to be implemented. The algebraic method used in the paper leads to an extension of the concept of mutually unbiased measurements. PACS numb...
متن کاملInterfacing quantum-optical and solid-state qubits.
We present a generic model of coupling quantum-optical and solid-state qubits, and the corresponding transfer protocols. The example discussed is a trapped ion coupled to a charge qubit (e.g., Cooper pair box). To enhance the coupling and to achieve compatibility between the different experimental setups we introduce a superconducting cavity as the connecting element.
